“Wow, Kaia, supper is amazing.” Dre shovels another forkful of food into his mouth. I get lost for a moment watching his perfect lips moving while he chews, wondering what they would feel like pressed against mine. He could wrap his arms around me, and I would almost disappear; I feel safe the more time I spend with him. It’s the same way I’ve felt about Rafe, but it took a few years to get to that point. With Dre, these feelings have developed quickly, almost too quickly, and I’m not sure what that means yet.

“Yes, hon, this is a wonderful meal. Reminiscent of my granny, and let me tell you, that’s high praise,” Jax says between bites. His smile takes over his face. But he has a faraway gleam in his eyes for a moment, and I can only imagine what is going through his head. At this point Rafe, Wolf, Jax, Dre and Kir are all looking at me.

“Yeah, Kaia, will you marry me? I could eat like this every night!” Kir winks and gives me a saucy smile. I give him a weak one in return because being the center of attention is not my thing. At least when it comes to stuff outside the bedroom. Inside…well, I actually prefer being showered with attention. Now that I think about it, how would it feel to have all of their attention on me at once? Kir is a blast, always teasing me and playing tricks. Our verbal sparring is invigorating. The first kiss we shared left me with that sense of home, and it felt right when Kir, Rafe, and I were together. And Rafe… Well, next to Sofie, he’s my best friend. Everything is as easy for us now as it was before. I also feel safe with him.

“Kaia will marry me, and if you suckers are lucky, we might invite you over for meals,” Rafe says around a mouthful of food. Fork in hand, he points it toward each of them as he speaks. My head whips over to him, then over to Kir as he jumps in.

“A, You couldn’t live without me, Rafe. B, Kaia should choose who she weds. C, She can’t resist my charms. And D, Why should she limit herself to only one of us?” Kir looks at me, eyes sparkling. My head is getting dizzy, turning back and forth between them.

“Well-played, my friend. You, Kaia, and I, triple trouble. I love this idea, let’s make it happen.” Rafe is looking at me too, a goofy smile on his face. This is getting uncomfortable. Time for a subject change.

“Well—” I begin until Wolf interrupts me.

“We should discuss how we will move forward.” He reaches for a roll, splitting it in half and smearing whipped butter on it. “The men that attacked you at Sticks are in medical, so patience is key until they’re ready for questioning. One is still out cold, and the other had to have his jaw wired shut. That was a serious ass kicking you two gave them, Kaia.
